Responsibilities as First Nation and Community Government
Sambaa K’e First Nation’s responsibilities can be envisioned in two categories, those of a First Nation and those of a community government. The First Nation provides services in areas of wellness, lands and resources, negotiations, community economic development, and education.
The Community Government focuses on municipal planning and services, which includes Capital and Asset Management Planning, Land Use planning, recreation, core services, emergency response, and transportation. The responsibilities can be seen in this graphic:
